What endures forever? The news reports? The economy? Our houses? Our money? Our bodies? Or our big stinky opinions? You’d sure think so since this seems to be all that people can talk about lately!

I’ve been listening to Psalms on my iPod this week while I shower. And a Psalm came on that said, “His love endures forever” about 50 times. It was awesome, but it tooks some time before it began to sink in. Listening to it over and over again, made it start to sink in for me. Oh, duh, God’s love endures forever.

Here’s the complete Psalm. I suggest you read it out loud.

Psalm 136 (New International Version)

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.

2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.

3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

4 to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.

5 who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.

6 who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.

7 who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.

8 the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.

<sup>9</sup> the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.

10 to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt
His love endures forever.

11 and brought Israel out from among them
His love endures forever.

<sup>12</sup> with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;
His love endures forever.

13 to him who divided the Red Sea [a] asunder
His love endures forever.

14 and brought Israel through the midst of it,
His love endures forever.

<sup>15</sup> but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;
His love endures forever.

16 to him who led his people through the desert,
His love endures forever.

17 who struck down great kings,
His love endures forever.

18 and killed mighty kings—
His love endures forever.

19 Sihon king of the Amorites
His love endures forever.

20 and Og king of Bashan—
His love endures forever.

21 and gave their land as an inheritance,
His love endures forever.

<sup>22</sup> an inheritance to his servant Israel;
His love endures forever.

23 to the One who remembered us in our low estate
His love endures forever.

24 and freed us from our enemies,
His love endures forever.

25 and who gives food to every creature.
His love endures forever.

26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.

HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!

Three weeks ago, I bought a cheap little iPod alarm clock with speakers. I mainly got it so I could listen to the Bible when I got ready in the morning.

Obviously, I must spend a lot of time in the bathroom doing my hair and make-up!

I’ve already listened to three books of the Bible: Romans, Acts, and Matthew. Crazy!!!

No matter how much I try to find time to read, my progress is usually about a half a chapter per month. Hurrah for audio and iPods!

Here’s what I am struggling with: every week I take sermon notes at church on my iPhone. Usually they are pretty good, but let’s face it, I sometimes miss info, have typos, and whatnot, so I wouldn’t want to say they are a perfect representation of what was said. But for the most part, they are pretty good, and would probably be helpful to those who attend St. Louis Family Church. At the least, I catch most of the scripture references.

But here’s the dilemma. I simply don’t have enough time to edit all the notes and make them as perfect as I would like them to be and still post them on a timely basis. Not unless I make this my new full-time job.

So here’s what I am considering: if I post a disclaimer about the fact that these notes are not perfect and should not be taken as the “gospel” truth (ha, ha this play on words makes me laugh!), then perhaps it would be useful to people if I went ahead and posted them.

Thoughts, anyone?

1. We have this hope as an anchor for our soul
Abiding hopes
There really is a God- deal with it
God came to help the broken
We live full and die empty
Don’t murmur; God sees it all.

2. God really does love us.
1John 3:1

3. We have a God who forgives sin and heals sickness.
Jesus was acquainted with sorrow.
We anticipate eternity. This is not all we have
God blots out our transgression for his own sake.
We are worth much more than they (birds and animals)
1 John 1:9

Feels good to be clean
Flood story – rotten hams
Nothing ever indicated this in Bible school
What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Forgiveness is necessary
God frees us from sin
Ps. 103

God has the inclination and capacity to heal.

God makes all things work together for good.
In the flood of 1993, our church was under water = now we’re able to comfort with what we’ve been comforted; we do disaster relief now.

Put your hope in God.
Walk in submission to him.
He loves us & works all things together for good.

The light at the end of the tunnel is not a train.
2 Cor. 9:8: all grace abound to you so you will have an abundance for
good works.
God is no respecter of persons.
He’s beautiful for situation.

Kids, that’s why we’re serving Jesus!
I press on.
De-pressing is when you stop pressing.

Press on – press into God.

I had started a “Thankful” journal, and I have a big one to add to my list today.

My company is moving to a new office building this week, and I was supposed to be off one day due to the move. However, because of some inspection issues, I am going to get off two days this week. This is an unexpected and wonderful blessing! I’m grateful for it!

Did I mention this was paid time off? I guess this makes up for all those snow days when I’d watch the school closings anxiously on TV, hoping that we would get the day off from school, only to find out that we had to go to school anyway…
